Recite Me - Sign Language Feature 

We are proud to offer the option to add sign language support to your toolbar.

 

💡Did you know?  

  • Deaf people who are born deaf or become deaf early in life may face challenges in learning written content because it's based on spoken language, which they don’t hear.
  • Sign Language may be some web visitors primary language. 
  • Sign languages have their own grammar and structure, which differ from spoken or written languages.
  • Reading comprehension can vary.   Some read at or above average reading levels, while others may struggle with reading.

Why is Sign Language Support important on Websites?

Including Sign Language support makes online content more accessible and easier to understand for Deaf web users, especially those who are more fluent in Sign Language than a written content.

How does it work for users?How does it work for users?

 A Sign Language icon will appear on your toolbar.

When the icon is selected a side panel opens displaying a signed video explaining what support is available on your website. 

The panel also lists page links allowing a user to navigate to pages which have support.       

This feature effectively acts as a library of sign language content, allowing users to easily see and access all the sign language support available on your website.

We are currently able to support: 

  • BSL (British Sign Language)  
  • ASL (American Sign Language)
  • (IS) International Sign
  • Auslan (Australian Sign Language)
If you have any other specific requests, please speak a your Recite Me contact. 
 
 

What you need to do? 

  • Work with your Recite Me contact to discuss your Sign Language requirements. 
  • Based on your requirements the team will liaise with our Partners Sign Solutions to provide you with a quotation to record your chosen content, they will also provide you with support on a script. 
  • Sign Solutions will then record videos of the agreed content. 
  • You host and own these videos. 
  • All we then need from you is to confirm where your videos are stored and which pages they link to.   Videos can be hosted locally on your site or via sites such as YouTube & Vimeo. 
  • We will then add the feature to your toolbar for your users to utilise.
